Every object in our collection carries a powerful story. This jacket was issued to George upon his arrival at Buchenwald in January 1945. Its thin material offered little protection from the cold, so George would search for discarded paper and rags that he could to keep him warm. Now, in preparation for our museum renovations, this jacket has being carefully stored to ensure it is preserved for future generations.
