Elizabeth Ashley Strand, Athena Strand’s stepmother, took the stand and recalled the day Athena went missing in November 2022. Tanner Horner pleaded guilty to capital murder and aggravated kidnapping in Athena’s death, but Ashley said the loss has changed every part of their family’s life. She testified that she and her ex-husband, Jacob, are no longer married and that her other daughter now runs and hides when she sees delivery drivers.
