The golf swing is a circular event & creating a reasonable amount of depth (getting the grip end of the club a distance away from the golf ball) is a characteristic demonstrated by many of the top players in the world. As a general visual reference; at the top of the swing you would be looking to get the end of the grip directly above your ankle line when looking from behind. If you’re a slicer of the golf ball this is a great exercise to encourage some more depth once assuming you have the club
