From its earliest days, Midtown Houston has played a pivotal role in shaping the city’s identity. Once a part of Houston’s historic Third and Fourth Wards, the area was a thriving center for African American life and culture in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Owners Amir Ansari and his wife, Lisa Tapick Ansari, had two goals in mind when they bought the 111-year-old home in 2009 – to preserve a slice of Houston architectural history and to bring to life one cool bar and kitchen. Sterling House opened for business in August 2016.

Midtown Houston has implemented a web tool known as SeeClickFix. This tool allows citizens to report non-emergency neighborhood issues, which are communicated to local government.
