President Trump’s refashioned board of trustees voted him chairman and replaced the Kennedy Center’s president Deborah Rutter with Trump ally Richard Grenell.

The president solidified his grip on the performing arts complex as the center’s longtime president, Deborah F. Rutter, was fired.

Producer Shonda Rhimes, who was appointed by President Barrack Obama and was serving as treasurer, announced her resignation Wednesday. Singer-songwriter Ben Folds also resigned as artistic adviser of the National Symphony Orchestra, and singer Renee Fleming also would step down as artistic adviser to the center.
