WINNIPEG, March 7, 2025 – The Winnipeg Jets Hockey Club announced today they have acquired Brandon Tanev from the Seattle Kraken in exchange for the Jets second-round selection in the 2027 NHL Draft.

The Kraken will hold forward Brandon Tanev, a potential trade target, out of their final game before Friday's NHL trade deadline.

The Seattle Kraken have traded forward Brandon Tanev to the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for a 2027 second-round pick in their second deal completed ahead of Friday’s trade deadline.

The Winnipeg Jets acquired Brandon Tanev from the Seattle Kraken and Luke Schenn from the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday.

Brandon Tanev, a pending unrestricted free agent, was held out of Thursday's 5-3 Kraken road loss to the Predators, the telltale sign a trade was coming.

The Seattle Kraken will hold Brandon Tanev out of the lineup tonight for trade protection reasons. The Kraken will be taking on the Nashville Predators on the road tonight and will do so without Tanev.

The Kraken have traded fan favorite Brandon Tanev to the Winnipeg Jets. The forward is nicknamed ‘Turbo’ because of his high energy and physical approach to hockey. Tanev was held out of Thursday’s game against the Nashville Predators, indicating a move was likely. In 238 games with the team, Tanev scored 41 goals and notched 32 assists.
