Trade frictions between Washington and Beijing have flared up after a hiatus following a meeting between U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and his Chinese counterpart.

President Donald Trump took to social media Friday morning to register his displeasure with China’s trade conduct, claiming the Asian powerhouse is in violation of a recently struck agreement that saw massive retaliatory tariffs put on hold.

China accused the U.S. of violating an agreement made at their tariff-cutting discussions in Geneva in May, and said it will take further action as the trade dispute between the world's two largest economies blows open again.
