Authorities have identified a 37-year-old Carlsbad woman found dead near Sykes Hot Springs in the Big Sur backcountry.

The cause of her death has not yet been announced. On Monday, a forensic medical examination was conducted, but the results of toxicology tests were still pending.

The death was still under investigation by the Monterey County Sheriff's Office.
