Midfielder Joao Palhinha is set to leave Bayern Munich after just one year, sporting director Christoph Freund has confirmed, with Tottenham Hotspur the reported destination. Freund said after Bayern's 2-1 win over Olympique Lyon in a pre-season friendly on Saturday that Palhinha is in talks with another club.

Tottenham are closing in on the loan signing of Bayern Munich midfielder Joao Palhinha. The destructive number six joined the German giants in a £42.3m deal last summer and called it "the happiest day of my life" – although the move has since soured due to injury and a lack of playing time.

Palhinha was Fulham’s player of the season in his debut campaign at Craven Cottage and made 79 appearances in total for the club. Before his move to the Premier League, he had spent the entirety of his senior career in Portugal with Sporting CP and had several loan spells elsewhere.
