Hortman was fatally shot two weeks earlier by a man posing as a police officer in an attack that Minnesota’s chief federal prosecutor has called an assassination.

Former Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband were honored at a private funeral on Saturday, weeks after she was killed in what’s been called a politically motivated assassination. Former President Biden and former Vice President Harris were among the attendees.

Former President Biden joined a steady stream of mourners who visited the Minnesota State Capitol Friday to pay their respects to slain former state House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark.
