The winter storm bringing heavy snow and ice to parts of the Midwest will also bring the threat of severe weather to parts of the South and Southeast on Wednesday.

The individual storms ahead of a line expected to push through late this evening will have the most likely chance to produce gusty winds and even tornados. A line of storms will develop across the region late today bringing a wave of storms from west to east late evening into the overnight.

Brandon Black of the NWS Mobile office said "we can't rule out a tornado once again" as more severe weather heads toward Wednesday night.

Back-to-back storm systems will bring the potential for severe weather and flooding to the South over the next several days. Strong thunderstorms could produce damaging winds, large hail and isolated tornadoes,
