Starting pitcher Hunter Dobbins left the Red Sox’ game against the Rays on Friday in the second inning with an injury.
For the first time in 42 games, Red Sox manager Alex Cora penciled Alex Bregman's name onto the lineup card on Friday night. Bregman got the start at third base and went 1-for-4 with a double in Boston’s 5-4 win over the Rays.
For the first time since 1987, the Red Sox had three homegrown starters make 30 starts each in 2024. But all three have regressed in 2025.

To open an active roster spot, infielder/outfielder Nate Eaton has been optioned to Triple-A Worcester. Right-hander Nick Burdi was transferred to the 60-day IL to open a 40-man spot.
