The U.N. human rights office says more than 1,000 Palestinians have been killed since May while trying to get food in the Gaza Strip.

Twenty-eight countries including Britain, Japan and a host of European nations issued a joint statement Monday saying the war in Gaza “must end now” — the latest sign of allies' sharpening language as Israel's isolation deepens.

The plan aims to re-establish a permanent Jewish presence by housing 1.2 million and promoting economic growth.

The answer, of course, is that Israel is manifestly not committing genocide, a legally specific and morally freighted term that is defined by the United Nations convention on genocide as the “intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such.”

On Saturday, Israeli soldiers fired at a crush of Palestinians seeking food from Israeli-supported contractors, killing an estimated 32 people. On Sunday, 93 Palestinians were reported killed when Israeli soldiers opened fire on a melee of civilians desperate for supplies from a U.N. food convoy.
