Less than a week before leaving the White House, President Joe Biden is lifting the state sponsor of terrorism designation for Cuba.

In addition to removing Cuba from the terror list, the White House will also issue the country a waiver from Title III of the 1996 Helms-Burton Act, which strengthened embargo provisions against Cuba. The White House noted that Cuba has not "provided any support for international terrorism during the preceding 6-month period," and "has provided assurances that it will not support acts of international terrorism in the future.
