DENVER — Brandon Carlo is eager to make his Toronto Maple Leafs debut. But perhaps more exciting for the now-former Boston Bruins defenseman is getting to skate alongside defenseman Morgan Rielly, with whom he shared many playoff battles with over the years.

Brandon Carlo was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs by the Boston Bruins on Friday for forward Fraser Minten, a conditional first-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft, and a fourth-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft. Toronto had received the fourth-round pick from the Philadelphia Flyers earlier on Friday in the trade for forward Scott Laughton.

“Going to the Bruins for Carlo is prospect Fraser Minten and the Leafs' 2026 first-round pick. The 20-year-old center was a second-round pick (38th overall) by the Leafs in the 2022 NHL draft. He’s projected to become a third-line center." Grade: A
