An Abraham Lincoln historian who’s working on a documentary about the Great Emancipator’s Funeral Train will give a talk to the Calumet City Historical Society today.

Ryder says the documentary will start with the arrival of Lincoln's funeral train in Springfield in 1865.

Abraham Lincoln's funeral train traveled through Ohio, including Champaign County, in late April 1865, making stops at many small towns on its way to Springfield, Illinois.

Lincoln sites have planned a once-in-a-lifetime series of exhibits, programs and events, including the highly anticipated reenactment of Lincoln’s 1865 funeral procession and entombment.

Events are planned this week in Columbia County to mark the anniversary of the passing of Lincoln’s funeral train on April 25, 1865.
