General Motors reported an about 17% rise in first-quarter U.S. sales on Tuesday, helped by demand for its pickup trucks and affordable crossover SUVs.

Delivering 693,363 vehicles in the first three months of the year, the Detroit automaker outpaced its competitors in total U.S. sales.

A 25% tariff on imported passenger vehicles, light trucks and some auto parts goes into effect this week. Automakers that import more vehicles and auto parts will be affected the most. Toyota, Hyundai and Nissan could all be significantly impacted.
