Hundreds gathered Saturday morning at Minneapolis' Basilica of St. Mary for the private funeral of Democratic Minnesota House Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman, her husband Mark and their dog, Gilbert.Gov.

Former Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband were honored at a private funeral on Saturday, weeks after she was killed in what’s been called a politically motivated assassination. Former President Biden and former Vice President Harris were among the attendees.

The service comes a day after thousands paid their respects to the couple as they laid in state at the Minnesota Capitol.
