A Forecast First ALERT remains in effect through tonight.Powerful storms are expected to fire up across the Dakotas and race into western and southern Minnesota during the late evening and early overnight hours.
There is a chance for some patchy fog in the early hours of Tuesday, followed by mostly cloudy skies for much of the day. A Heat Advisory goes into effect for the counties with and north of U.S. 50 Tuesday morning, as heat index values are expected to get close to 100. Extreme Heat warnings continue through Wednesday for Jackson and Wirt Counties.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Steamy temps and scattered storms continue to control the weather to start the week, but MUCH cooler changes are blowing in to end July and begin August. This looks to be a prolonged period of below normal temps.
Monday is a First Alert 6 Weather Day due to intense heat in the Omaha area that is likely to persist. Still, overnight storms with winds ushered in a brief bout of cooler air in the lower 70s to start the day Warmth and humidity will return, with highs expected in the upper 90s Monday afternoon, according to Senior Chief Meteorologist Rusty Lord.
High pressure will be out best friend over the course of the next 48 hours or so as sunshine will return in full force.
