A royal tomb belonging to an ancient Egyptian king has been unearthed, in what has been called a “remarkable” discovery by officials.

But that doesn’t make the discovery of his final resting place any less important. On February 18, the Egyptian government announced that an international team of archeologists have finally confirmed the tomb’s location—making it the first and most significant royal find since the identification of King Tutankhamun’s tomb in 1922.

Egyptian officials announced Tuesday the discovery of the tomb of King Thutmose II, the last of the lost tombs of the kings of ancient Egypt's Eighteenth Dynasty, which reigned for over two centuries between about 1550 BC and 1292 BC.

The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities announced that archaeologists have discovered the long-lost tomb of King Thutmose II, marking the first royal tomb discovery since 1922.
