Robert Chenault, who served as chief of inspectors under former District Attorney Nancy O’Malley, is expected to fill the job at a future date, multiple sources said.

In her first act as Alameda County District Attorney, Ursula Jones Dickson quickly rescinded a handful of policies implemented by her predecessor Pamela Price.

Court workers in Alameda County who walked off the job for a one-day strike Wednesday extended the action into a second day Thursday.

Alameda County officially has a new district attorney. Ursula Jones Dickson was sworn in Tuesday afternoon. She was one of 15 people to apply for the job and was chosen from among seven finalists. Dickson was unanimously voted into the position by the Alameda County Board of Supervisors after a long interview process.

"The DA's job is to make sure, as the top law enforcement officer in the county, that we are tending to the public safety of the community," she said.
