A strong Pacific storm is bringing soaking rain to Southern California and raising the risk of life-threatening flooding, mudslides and debris flows, especially near burn scars in the Los Angeles area.

An unusually strong storm system called an atmospheric river was dousing Southern California on Saturday, prompting flood warnings in areas of coastal Los Angeles County that recently were ravaged by wildfires.

On Monday at 12:26 p.m. a flood watch was released by the NWS Las Vegas NV valid from 10 p.m. until Wednesday 4 a.m. The watch is for Owens Valley, Death Valley, Eastern Mojave Desert, Including the Mojave National Preserve and San Bernardino County-Upper Colorado River Valley.
