Tesla CEO Elon Musk has revealed that the company's affordable electric vehicle (EV) is a simplified version of the Model Y, positioning it to become Tesla's new entry-level offering. On Thursday, EV news site Electrek reported that Tesla plans to launch a budget-friendly version of the Model Y.

Back in February, Tesla began promising new Model Y variants, and since then, the Model Y L has been revealed as a bigger six-seater for China. There have also been rumors of a more luxurious long-wheelbase variant with captain’s chairs after a white-hat hacker found evidence of such a thing in Model Y firmware.

A small part most drivers forget about just reminded one Tesla Model Y owner how quickly everything can shut down, even in a car that’s been flawless for years.
