General Motors Co. on Monday appointed a former Tesla Inc. leader and the co-founder of a self-driving vehicle company to oversee global products at the Detroit automaker, which has struggled to match electric and self-driving technology offered by Elon Musk's Tesla.
GM and its partner LG Energy Solution plan to launch production of the technology, called lithium manganese-rich batteries, in the U.S. by 2028.
