The snow is likely to fall on Sunday from the Appalachians to New England. New York City may see its largest snowfall in years.

The National Weather Service has issued winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories for 15 New Jersey counties.

The snow forecast may be somewhat up in the air, but one thing is for sure: Any snow that falls will not be melting next week.

NWS meteorologists wrote in Friday morning's forecast that there is "increasing confidence in an accumulating/plowable snow event later (Sunday) and especially (Sunday) night across the region." There is still some uncertainty about total snowfall amounts because the system is more than 48 hours out,

A storm bringing snow Sunday will be followed by an arctic outbreak dropping temperatures into the 'single digits.'
