Nationwide ICE protests erupt in Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Chicago, and other cities, as a No Kings Day march is planned.

Multiple people were detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in downtown San Francisco on Tuesday morning, merely 12 hours after thousands of protesters took to the streets in the Mission to rally against the widespread raids taking place across California.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum urged U.S. officials on Friday not to target individuals attending a Gold Cup soccer match in Los Angeles between the Mexican national team and the Dominican Republic.

The outburst of public dissent occurred over the weekend after ICE began raids across Los Angeles. ICE said on Saturday that its “operations in LA this week” had resulted in 118 arrests of immigrants in Southern California.

Jafet Santiago Diaz came to the United States because he feared for his life back home. After his first asylum hearing, ICE detained him.

"It doesn't mean that the city will put up a fence around San Francisco and keep ICE out, but it does mean that San Francisco would not facilitate immigration enforcement," USF professor Bill Hing said.
