PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — Seven large fires are burning across Oregon. The largest, the Cram Fire, is burning 15 miles north of Madras. As of Monday night, it was estimated to be about 20,000 acres in size.

The Cram Fire in Central Oregon has grown beyond 30,000 acres, driven by heat and gusty winds. It has forced evacuations, worsened air quality, and shut down Highway 97. Crews face difficult terrain and shifting winds.

PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN) — The Cram Fire, burning north of Madras, doubled in size overnight, reaching the town of Ashwood. According to Central Oregon Fire Info, gusty winds in the area pushed the fire southeast toward Ashwood, prompting crews to refocus their priorities on protecting buildings.

A fast-moving wildfire broke out Sunday evening near Highway 97 and Willowdale northeast of Madras, tearing through grass, brush, timber and leftover logging debris. It was still growing fast Monday,
