Cleveland dominated Colorado in Game 2 of the series at Progressive Field — a 10-4 Guardians victory in which the home team scored in each of the first six innings. The Guardians lit up Rockies right-hander Tanner Gordon for seven runs (six earned) over three innings, and the Colorado bullpen was ineffective.
Monday was a long day for the Guardians. They found out around 1 p.m. that closer Emmanuel Clase had been removed from the team because of gambling allegations. Then came a 2 hour, 30 minute rain delay before the first pitch.
The Rockies took the series opener, 8-6, rallying in the top of the 9th inning scoring four runs to take the game after the Guardians scored five in the 7th. Cleveland is now 1-4 over the last five games, while Colorado is heating up with six wins over the previous 10 games.
Kyle Manzardo had his second career two-homer game and drove in three runs, Brayan Rocchio hit a two-run triple, and the Cleveland Guardians rolled to a 10-4 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday night.
Freeman, dealt from the Guardians to the Rockies for Nolan Jones in March, came up clutch in his return to Progressive Field in Monday’s series opener. The designated hitter had two hits and three RBIs, including the game-winning single in the top of the ninth as the Rockies put up four in the frame for an 8-6 comeback win.
