Roadways across parts of the Chicago area were flooded Friday afternoon as slow-moving storms dumped heavy rain on the region, leading to dangerous situations for many drivers.

Funnel clouds were reported Friday morning in Illinois and there was a Flood Warning for parts of the Chicago area into the evening.

A line of fast-moving storms prompted severe thunderstorm warnings in the Chicago area and ground stops at O'Hare and Midway airports. There were also reports of storm damage.

Heavy rains Friday left behind water-clogged streets along I-55 and in Chicago Lawn, Inglewood, Hyde Park and areas just south of Midway Airport. A flood watch is in effect until 7 p.m. Saturday for parts of the Chicago area and northwest Indiana.
