Gov. Greg Abbott has already said he intends to sign the bill, which will give schools funding for salary increases, special education, teacher preparation and operational costs.

HB 2, the school financing bill, would increase the funding for public education to $8.5 billion. Schools would see their per-student funding, or basic allotment, increase by $55. The House is expected to pass the bill,
