The influential sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un rebuffed overtures by South Korea’s new liberal government, saying Monday that its “blind trust” in the country's alliance with the U.S. and hostility toward North Korea make it no different from its conservative predecessor.

It had been hoped that South Korea's recent moves to scale back propaganda along the border might improve relations between the long-time enemies.

Kim Yo Jong criticised South Korea's new government for its reliance on the U.S. and hostile stance toward North Korea, indicating no interest in resuming diplomacy.
